Under the guidance of glass artist Laura Strother, the 6th and 7th period art students at De Zavala Middle School created “inspiration collages” from magazine images, drawings and fabric. They each chose personal themes from this collage. The class discussed and brainstormed imagery from their collages, which evoked their main theme. Using a section from their collage, the students then painted upon a large glass piece, which expressed this main theme. Students worked both individually and collaboratively on the discussion of themes.
